The tobacco box features a battle scene or battle depicted in mother of pearl. In the golden age, the best mother of pearl artists worked with shells brought from the east by the VOC. Most mother of pearl artists worked in Amsterdam in the 18th century. This box has been recreated based on techniques from the 18th century. The tobacco box has been hallmarked with pseudomarks
